This is an excellent book in every way. The author manages to make a cpmlex series of events understandable to the comon person. Further, he tells us horrible things but with such compassion and clear-sightedness that one can imagine the horror without being overcome by it. Moreso, he shows the true horror in that of the entire world's blind eye to an obvious crisis; it makes me ashamed of an administration that I truly liked.
I think someone called Gourevitch a great "moral journalist' which I think is a good description for this man. He shows an insight and such humanity to a series of terrible crimes that I cannot help but be awed by him.
This was by no means an easy book to read - especially with the political maneuverings that must be understood - but it is fascinating look into how a genocide was allowed to happen again.
